PAT Testing is a yearly test to verify the safety of appliances. Appliances are tested to make sure that your employees or yourself using the item are not going to come into harms way whilst doing so. 

If someone was to have an accident while using a faulty item you are liable as it is up to you to make sure all your items are safe.
